I am wondering too. I spoke to a source in the Rocket camp awhile back and they told me that they already knew who they were taking......it was already agreed upon......and that it s a forward. Thats all I know Devon MacAusland?? Hmmmmm

Unless they think that Bonneau or Bourque will BOTH be gone by their #11 pick......
If true, it's gonna be interesting.

If it was linked to the Lund deal it would have been announced during the period today and to be fair Lund hasn't panned out over the last couple of years to be worth that IMO.
If true, I'm sure it's a completely separate trade.

That was only a wild guess anyway

Thanks for passing along the rumour barney as you certainly have my interest now for tomorrow.
I say a lot of Rocket fans will be tuned into the start of the draft and trade period now tomorrow.
The only thing that worries me is what might pay to move up as other than MacAusland without a couple of the top guys who are claiming to go NCAA the rest of the group may not be necessarily worth moving up.
Although I am guessing if they move up the Rocket will take Bonneau who wouldn't have been available by the 11th pick.
Here's hoping things work out that the Rocket do move up for a reasonable price and get the player they want.

At the very least I think it'll be your 1st rounder plus a 2nd to move up to #5.

'Looking for some punch' The Guardian
In a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft without a Sidney Crosby, the P.E.I. Rocket is waiting for the right opportunity at the league’s 2007 draft for 15 and 16-year-old players today in Drummondville, Que (11 a.m., AT). Follow the QMJHL draft live, beginning at 11 a.m. Atlantic time
“I’m looking for the best player,” said Serge Savard Jr., Rocket president and general manager, in an interview from Drummondville. “I’m looking for some punch up front. We’re looking for a forward. That would be on our wish list.”
With the 11th overall pick, P.E.I.’s eyeing Jonathan Bonneau, a six-foot, 173-pound winger from the Magog Cantonniers in Quebec midget AAA. The 16-year-old captain had 55 points for Magog last season and was a teammate of Rocket defenceman Jordon Southorn on Quebec’s Canada Winter Games men’s hockey squad in Whitehorse, Yukon earlier this year.
“He’s a very good player. He’s a middle first-round pick,” said Savard. “We don’t know if he’s going to be there, but he’s a guy we like.”
The Saint John Sea Dogs own the first overall pick (it’s the team’s third straight year with the dubious honour) and man-sized defenceman Simon Després is the likely selection.
The six-foot, four-inch, 210-pound blue-liner should join d-man Jann Sauve, first overall last year, for a young but potentially dominating defensive stable as they mature.
Still, said Savard, going first isn’t always the best and sometimes a top player drops into a GM’s lap.
“You take a guy in the top five picks overall like Chris Doyle (P.E.I.’s pick last year), well, then the player has to be good right away,” said Savard. “When you have the 11th or 12th or 13th or 14th pick there’s always a guy that slides down the draft that your (team’s) scouts have fourth, fifth or sixth overall.”
But the Rocket GM and his scouting department see the 2007 version as deep rather than flashy. Last year P.E.I. traded up to get Southorn in the first round.
“We’re pretty sure we’re going to stay where we are because this year we’re convinced that it’s a draft with a lot of good players compared to the last two or three years. There’s not a Crosby in the draft, but there’s three or four solid rounds.”
As of Friday’s trading period before the draft, Rocket defenceman Pascal Boutin is still with the team although Savard said he’s open to offers.
And Savard confirmed the trade of 19-year-old forward Joey Haddad to Cape Breton for 20-year-old defenceman Jason Swit.

I just hope that Savard does not go after young Bonneau just because of his name...... Bonneau is talented though, his 27 goals last season put him up near the top for this years draft eligible players..... if I'm not mistaken. Also, being a '90 born, he'll be 17 next season, and ready to step in and play. Could be interesting.

I have never seen Bonneau play so maybe Lala or someone else ccan provide more info but CSR has him ranked 11th and it sounds like he had a good season so if we took him at 11th that makes sense as it would appear to be where he should go.
Having said that with a couple of the top guys claiming NCAA Bonneau could very well be taken a few picks earlier (eg. BC 8th) so I would be disappointed if the Rocket made the rumoured trade with Halifax just so they could take Bonneau.
Nothing against Bonneau but from what I read it doesn't appear that he is necessarily better than guys like Bourque, Gilbert, Deschamp who are rated in the same range. So why move up unless you are getting a guy that you know is a step above what you could get with the 11th pick.
Can't wait to find out what the Rocket do and who they select.

From what I have been told by a couple people, Bourque is just as good as Bonneau........if not all around better. Kid works his ass off... As you said, nothing against Bonneau, as he should be a solid Q player.

Despres happy to take what he gets MATTHEW WUEST The Daily News
Simon Despres cuts straight to the point.
Despres, the top prospect for today's Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft, wants to play a pro-style 70-game schedule and has no interest in the NCAA - an honest stance many will find refreshing.
"I want to play hockey," the six-foot-three, 210-pound blueliner said yesterday.
"I don't want to play (only) 30 games per year (in the NCAA). I'm not difficult. Whichever (QMJHL) team drafts me, I'll be happy to go."
Despres' comments came moments after the QMJHL's introductory showcase of first-round draft prospects at Centre Culturel in Drummondville.
Only 12 of 18 first-round prospects attended, including just four of the top nine.
The other six - including Halifax's Steven Anthony and Bible Hill's Matt Brown - have said they are interested in the NCAA.
"They're allowed to skip it," Despres said, smiling. "Maybe they're bluffing, but we'll (find out) at the draft."
The Laval, Que., native stressed academics are important to him and that he will continue his schooling in the Q.
The Saint John Sea Dogs have the draft's No. 1 pick for the third straight year. They are believed to be deciding between Despres and Anthony.
