I wonder if it will be the same set up as last year
3-4 acts the first night which is Thursday the 29th, the big event friday night the 30th, free concert saturday night the 1st then the family day sunday with a canadian idol concert and circus thingy. I liked that set up better then the years before it.
Get the good concerts for the Thursday and Friday night, the nights teenagers and older are going to go. Then use Canada day and Sunday concert as family days..

WOW that's a hurtin lineup if I ever saw one. Sam Roberts is good, but certainly not headliner worthy. Plus his new album is just "alright". I'm going to see him in concert here in Calgary on the 19th. Hopefully he'll stick to his older material. I guess I'm happy that i'm not rushing home for the concerts afterall, if this is the lineup.
And yes it TEEMED rained for Sam Roberts ... I remember it well. I think that was the white pants night, wasn't it Chick? Where we used a cheap plastic rain coat between the two of us for shelter? That lasted all of 5 mins.

Just heard that the Barenaked Ladies are indeed coming to Charlottetown but not til August...I guess the hints they were dropping had nothing to do with the Festival of Lights....apparently it was announced on the radio today and tickets go on sale tomorrow but I am not 100% positive as I only read this somewhere else..hopefully it's true....

This is confirmed now....not the Barenaked Ladies for the Festival of Lights but another outdoor concert at the Racino in August.... I dislike the BNL but another excuse to party sounds good to me... www.confederationcentre.com/newsdetail.asp?newsID=499** sorry just read the article and $49.50 to see the BNL is a little steep considering you can buy a 3 day pass for the Festival of lights and see about 6 bands equivalent to the BNL for around the same price....

Ok so back to guessing as to who might be in the line up for the Festival then. We've crossed out the BNL and Brian Adams. Is Sam Roberts still a go?
And has anyone wondered why they keep it such a big secret? Why wouldn't they annouce it as soon as they could to perhaps boost sales? Altho I suppose they sales are pretty good anyway. But I just never understood why they wait so long to release the line up.

From what I have heard..Matt Mayes, Sam Roberts and The Hip will play one night of the concerts...then July 1st for the free concert Joel Plaskett and Two Hours Traffic + others and then they have yet to announce the second night of concerts which will be the headliners....not 100% sure about any of this just from word of mouth...

Heard the Aerosmith rumor a couple of times today from different people...I can't see it happening but people believe Aerosmith with either Lenny Kravitz or Motley Crue will be playing at the Festival....I think their tour with Lenny is done but they are going back out this summer with Motley Crue, or so I have been told...
would be nice but will never happen as an Aerosmith concert would be way to pricey for Charlottetown...

It is official that Sam Roberts, Matt Mayes and The Tragically Hip will be playing on Friday June 30th...Thes rest of the lineup will be announced on May.24th...Hope they have another big name coming and this isn't the headliners. You would think the biggest concert would be on Friday... www.visitcharlottetown.com/lights/** I just read the article and seems the dates have changed..It use to say June 29th - July 2nd and now it says June 30th to July 3rd...So it seems the Hip will be the first night of the concerts and the headliners will be on July 1st this year. Maybe they will have the free concert on July 2nd......

I have it figured out now..July 3rd is actually a holiday as July 1st falls on a Saturday. I figured it would be Friday that would be the Holiday but it is actually Monday...
so:
Friday July 30th: The Hip, Sam Roberts, Matt Mayes
Sat July 1st: Free Concert
Sunday July 2nd: second night of concerts and I assume headliners
Monday July 3rd: probably somebody family oriented who will play in the afternoon

That first set of concerts sounds good. Love both The Hip and Sam Roberts. I'm sure who ever they have for the second concert will be good as well. The previous 2 years, the big concert was the second night, or am I wrong?
Those updated dates seems about right. The 1st falls on the weekend, so the holiday will actually be the Monday. Sunday's a good night for partying!!
Sorry I'm going to be missing it all!
