well...me having a slight inside track, i can safely say that there's a 95% chance you'll see Simple Plan, they are eager to play here. As for other bands, Fleetwood Mac will be in the maritimes around the time of the Festival, would be cool to see something worked out for an Island stop. Nickelback is another name that's been hashed around again, with their new CD out and touring left right and centre. Sheryl Crow had been talked about, but things were up in arms after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, so she's a no go. Look for a couple big name Canadian Acts to be supplemented by one HUGE American act, above and beyond that of Three Doors Down. This is still hush hush right now, but if it becomes a reality get ready to ROCK or are we just going to have to Dream On

Be awesome if we got Aerosmith here, but they would cost some BIG $$$.....
Tickets would sell in record time too.

I like the Hip, Mayes and Sam Roberts. They all put on a very good show IMO.
However, can we expect a bigger name to come?
Lets hope so.

Anybody catching the clues on the radio in the mornings? I heard one last week and it's a grammy award winning band. I missed the clue this morning, it was on, but I was zoned out I think and I missed it.

I would think there will be a bigger name to come..Sam Roberts, Matt Mayes & the Hip will probably be one night and the next will be a bigger name American act probably....They usually have one night of good Canadian acts..Last year it was the Trews & Finger Eleven plus Lifehouse on the first night..altho Lifehouse isn't Canadian the cost of those three bands would be comparable to the cost of Sam Roberts, The Hip & Matt Mayes so expect a couple of bigger acts to headline on another night..
Hints have been, Grammy winner, 9 studio albums, older band..
?? can't find any except Pearl Jam & Green day but I wouldn't expect them to go that big..Pearl Jam is touring elsewehere then & Green Day would be out of Charlottetown's league...killer concert if it was true tho...

Green Day would be sweet...but as you said, kinda out of our league.
Glad to see Mayes here again; and those three mentioned, Mayes, Hip and Roberts, all put on a good show.
Does the radio give out hints every morning?

have heard the confed centre is planning a HUGE concert here in Aug, that will blow the festival of lights out of the water, from what I hear it is going to be amazing, not at the confed centre but outside, mid august and well the band I heard is HUGE....... Rumours of the chilli peppers and greenday have been bandied about for the huge concert s in July and August......have heard from source who 'dates" a person within the confed centre org that the one with them will be one that will draw a larger crowd then the festival of lights.....so maybe 2 huge concerts this summer? IMAGINE! Right now the lineup that is being bandied about for festival of lights....well does not really impress me....tragically hip...good ten years or so ago, and i like matt mays and sam roberts but after last year....really it would be a dissapointment
