I spent a bit of time seaching on the Internet to see if I could find any information about players who are on the camp roster but aren't on our 55 man list.
Here's what I could come up with.....
Cody Biron, a defenceman, played with the Halifax McDonald's midget AAA last season. He's a 5'8" 160 lb 1988 who scored 3-4-7 with 20 PIMs in 36 games last season.
Goaltender Bryan Gillis also played with the Halifax McDonald's midget AAA. He's also a 1988 and posted a 2.32 GAA this season.
Andrew Shears, a defenceman, played with the Western Kings midget AAA in Newfoundland last season. He's a 5'11" 150 lb. 1988 who put up 4-6-10 and 24 PIMS in 20 games.
All I could find out about David Petardi is that he played midget AAA with College Edouard-Montpetit in Quebec and thus was a teammate of draft pick Olivier Gauthier. He is property of the Valleyfield Braves in the Jr. AAA league in Quebec. Interesting that he's the only invited free agent from Quebec this year (last year we had a handful who were sent home quite early).
Peter Drikos, another defenceman, played Jr. A with the Ajax Axemen in Ontario. He's 6'0" 195 and scored 3-7-10 with 17 PIMs in 37 games. Last year he was part of the Kingston Frontenacs camp. Interestingly, he's a 1985, so he'd would have to occupy one of our overage roster spots if the team is interested in keeping him around.
Corey Fulton is another defenceman who played Jr. A in Ontario. Last season with the Hunstville Otters he was 0-2-2 in 18 games and had 99 PIMs. He's a 1987 and is listed as 6'2" 190 lbs. I'm interested to see if he can play a bit. He's got decent size and is young enough to definitely be worth taking a look at.
Mike Barbour is a 1986 forward who played Jr. A in Pictou last season. He's 5'11" 180 lb and scored 2-1-3 with 29 PIMs in 24 games. He's been at camp the last two seasons but wasn't kept on the protected list. I noticed on the Cape Breton board he's listed on their camp roster as well.
Ben McDade played high school hockey with Auburn Drive High School. I'm guessing that's in the Halifax area, as he's currently listed as a trying out for the Halifax McDonald's midget AAA for this season.
I couldn't find any information about Zach Hall.
Jason Lamb is not on our protected list, but most forum members are familiar with his background. He's a 6'4 250 lb 1988 forward who played minor midget in Truro last year. He did get into a couple of games with the Halifax MacDonalds as an AP.
I'll also mention Jarret Paul, who was previously on our protected list, but wasn't drafted by the Rocket, nor was he at our training camp last year. He's a 1987 5'11" 185 lb forward who played with the Fredericton Canadiesns midget AAA last year. In 33 games, he scored 22-23-45 with 92 PIMs.
A comment......after going through this, I'm surprised to see no NB high school players at our camp after we had seen so many players invited from the NB high school league in the last couple of years (Martin & Mathieu Richard, Russel Cormier, Joel Brooks, Scott Myrshall, Kris Gaudet, Kevin Cormier).
