Posted on the Titan Board ...
Surprised no one has posted this yet but, according to CKLE, John Chabot is heading to NYI. Everything is but signed. A news bulletin will have some info at 5:30 pm today!
*************************
So lets see ... In this 3-way deal ... the NYI send to the Wildcats Coach Danny Flynn ... the Acadie Bathurst Titan send to the NYI Coach John Chabot ... the Acadie-Bathurst Titan send to the Moncton Wildcats a 1st rd Euro pick and an 8th rd pick (Brett Frazee) ... and the Wildcats send to Bathurst Rooperti Martikaenan ...
Seems about right to me ... ;D

NOLAN SELECTS ANOTHER ISLANDER FOR STAFF
SUMMERSIDE, PE, July 3, 2007 - Gerard (Turk) Gallant has a new coaching position in the National Hockey League.
The 43-year-old Summerside native will serve as an assistant coach to Ted Nolan with the New York Islanders.
"I'm really excited," said Gallant in a phone interview Monday night. "The Islanders are the team I cheered for when I was a kid, I scored my first goal in my first National Hockey League game here and I'm looking forward to working with some good people." \
One of Gallant's co-workers on Long Island will be another Summerside native, John Chabot, who is also an assistant coach. Chabot was born in Summerside and lived in the Prince County community until he was "two years old." His father was then transferred from CFB Summerside.
"I'm a born and bred Prince Edward Islander," said Chabot, who was head coach of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Acadie-Bathurst Titan the last year and a half.
"For me it's a great opportunity," said Chabot. "I've known Teddy and Turk for a bit of time. Turk and I played junior together back in Sherbrooke and again in Detroit we played together, and Teddy and I played together in Pittsburgh in the mid-'80s.
"We also kept in contact and worked together away from hockey with Aboriginal kids in the north."

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan Thursday afternoon announced the hiring of Denis Francoeur as the new team's head coach for the next three years. He succeeds John Chabot, who left the team this week to join his friend Ted Nolan on the coaching staff of the National Hockey League New York Islanders.
Francoeur has extensive Quebec Major Junior Hockey League head coaching experience having guided the Shawinigan Cataractes to a total of 360 regular season wins over all or parts of ten seasons. His team also won 36 playoff games over that span. Following the 2000-01 campaign, Francoeur was awarded the Ron-Lapointe Trophy as Coach of the Year.
He was let go by the Cataractes eighteen games into the 2005-06 season turning down an opportunity to stay on as general manager. The Titan offered Francoeur a three-year contract to come back to the QMJHL.
"I feel very privileged to be able to come back to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League," the 44 year-old Francoeur commented . "While I was on the sidelines, I realized how much of a privilege it is to coach in the "Q" and I’m very grateful to (President) Léo-Guy Morrissette and (General Manager) Sylvain Couturier for giving me this opportunity."
Asked about his short term goals, Francoeur said he looked forward to training camp to get a better idea of the players in the organization. "Sylvain and I will look at every single player in the organization to give me a better idea of what we have. Then, I’ll be able to form my own opinion once camp begins."
"We went with the best available", Couturier said. "He's experienced with over 360 wins lifetime, has lots of leadership and is ready to go immediately. He knows the league and is well organized."
"He'll fit in well. We're all on the same page", the Titan general manager added.
Francoeur is 7th on the all time list for wins and is 10th on the most games list, just 17 games back of Alain Vigneault, now with the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL.
