Brett Morrison was selected by the Ducks!!
Didn't expect this to happen, but with a 5th rd pick......why not?

Congrats to Morrison but that could be bad news for PEI.
It unfortunately could mean that they want Morrison for their AHL team during the upcoming season.

I do wish him the best of congratulations but like the rest of you here, hope he comes back to us. I was hoping he would be stepping in where Laliberte left off. Only time will tell now.

Provided he has a stellar camp, i'm hesitant to believe that Brett is 100% pro hockey ready, or ready to sign on with the club. Anaheim already has a stellar cash crop of youth both on the parent club and in the system. Now that doesn't mean i don't feel that Brett possesses the skills and is up to the calibre of any other touted draft pick chose beyond the 2 round, I just feel that they would be interested to see his leadership abilities on a young JR team, much the same way Lali did last year, which paid off in the end for him. I fully expect to see Brett back next year, but he'll be under Anaheim's radar to see how he performs, and it should pay off in the future.
Congrats all the same though, he's got some good finesse that would fit well on a rugged championship team like the Ducks. I'd be honoured to have been chosen into this fold.

I think I would put Morrison in the same boat as Bryce Swan for next year. They both could play the AHL but it would be better for them to both play 1 more year in the Q

Oh Deer and his tireless love of Swan. Both Swan and Morrison have the chance to step up but I don't think it's very likely... also Ana just added a couple prospective forwards in the mix like King and Dixon so that would be adding more depth to the Ducks' system.

I can't lie, I'm just a huge Bryce Swan fan. ;D In seriousness, I guess I just can't see how he could possibly be mentioned in the same breath as Brett Morrison, or be considered equally ready to take the next step. To me, Morrison's a much more complete player and in a totally different class.
