Tallking to some local kids last night and they are sying that Desroches was glad to be drafted, but not toohappy it was the Rocket. Also Deighan is not real happy about being taken by the Rocket, he told people that they don't have room for D. Not sure why the team took two goalies, may be the new coach knows something. Thought the Rocket should have taken local tough guy Big William Johnston, but Shawinigan scooped him up. Desroches should be very happy he was even drafted. Not a bad player but as I said I don't see him ever playing in this league. As for Deighan I don't know him but I bet the fact that he was expecting to be a 2nd round pick and fell to mid 4th round is probably what bother him the most. And forget the fact it is the Rocket the team that drafted him already has their top 6 defensemen set plus Owens who played a few games. I am sure that he wanted to play in the Q next season but making the Rocket is not going to be easy. I agree on both counts. Desroches has skill, but I don't see him sticking with any Q club. Be happy you got chosen kid, as im sure you are. Deighan im sure was not thrilled about dropping as much as he did......but the ball is in his court. We have some youth on D, but nothing is sewed up, so come to camp ready Parker and earn your spot. He has the skill to do so, so it's possible for sure!

i agree score. i can actually see deighan making this team this coming year. and desroches, is too soft, and has a bad attitude unless forbie and mike got it out of him. he is a non factor in my opinion. please do not cry about niot taking johnson. i doubt he will ever play. very over rated. simply not good enough.

P.E.I. Rocket selects physical winger The Guardian
Followers of the P.E.I. Rocket must be doing a double-take today after the club used its 11th overall pick to select projected second-round winger Brandon MacLean at the 2007 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft Saturday in Drummondville, Que.
Not so fast, said Serge Savard Jr., Rocket president and general manager, of the six-foot, 175-pound forward from Cole Harbour in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League.
“He’s a winger with a lot of grit, very good hands, goes to the net, very intense physical player all the time. He loves to gives body checks (and has) very good hockey sense,” said Savard. “I think Islanders will love that kind of player. He’s got a little bit of (former Rocket winger Maxim) Lapierre in him.”
Savard said MacLean’s stock dropped with the Q’s Central Scouting because he was a no-show at some midget showcase tournaments, but the Rocket had been talking with MacLean and his parents, Paul and Heidi, since Christmas.
“Central Scouting had him a bit lower because he didn’t show up at the showcase. So what they did was put those guys later to put pressure on them to show up,’’ said Savard. “He wanted to come to P.E.I with us so we kind of hid the kid a little bit.”
And that suits the 15-year-old MacLean just fine.
“I feel great now that it’s over with and I’ve been drafted,” said MacLean, a Bedford, N.S. native. “I didn’t really want to be in an all-French community (in terms of) education and all that.”
His selection had a bit of drama.
First, St. John’s swapped its pick (fourth overall) with Victoriaville and moved up to snag Jonathan Bonneau, a forward from Magog midget AAA in Quebec — a player the Rocket had been watching.
Then Saint John traded three picks, including a first-rounder in 2008, for Quebec’s 10th slot and picked Steven Anthony, a highly rated centre from Dartmouth in the NSMMHL.
Saint John also picked defenceman Simon Després first overall. Philippe Lefebvre went to Drummondville with the second pick while Shawinigan grabbed Charles-Olivier Roussel third and Rimouski took Gleason Fournier fifth to round out the top five.
The Anthony pick meant Savard could take a breath.
“We were very scared when Saint John made a trade to (jump to) number 10 because you never know (what can happen) when there’s leaps,” he said.
For MacLean’s part, he said he’s ready for the major junior hockey challenge.
“I’d like to have an impact as a rookie as much as a rookie can. I think I have the physical side needed for the Q. I think I can skate with the rest of them,” said MacLean, who had 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 28 games with Cole Harbour.
The Rocket traded former first-round pick defenceman Pascal Boutin to Val-d’Or for fifth and seventh round picks in 2007 and sent its sixth-round selection (92nd overall) to Gatineau for forward-defenceman Bryan Main.
P.E.I. took Summerside Capitals defenceman Parker Deighan, a projected second-round pick and highest-rated Islander, in the fourth round and snagged Caps teammate Nathan DesRoches in the ninth round. Centre Brandon Street from Tri-Pen Frost in Newfoundland and Labrador was P.E.I.’s second-round pick and Sébastien Gingras, a defenceman from the Lac St-Louis Tigres, was its fourth-round selection.
The Boutin trade brought goaltender Jon Waye from New Brunswick major midget AAA and defenceman Pierre-Luc Martel from the Grands-Ducs in Quebec junior AA hockey.
The Rocket added winger Tanner Manson in the fifth round, centre Samuel Courcelles in the sixth round, forward Jeremiah-Brien Coon-Come in the seventh, goalie Alex Peck and defenceman Michael Snow in the eighth round, winger Jordan Burke in the ninth round, forwards Olivier Morin in the 10th round and Ryan Mitchell in the 11th round.
P.E.I. didn’t draft in the 12th and took 15 players overall.

Nice addition by the Rocket as I think it is great to see some indications of their personality. The most impressive interview was Sebastien he came off very relaxed, intelligent and mature. Can't wait to see him and the rest of the new prospects in camp this season.
