People complain that only the major things happen in Charlottetown or Summerside and the rest of the province gets neglected. So now an area other than Charlottetown and Summerside get something major, they complain about that area being not big enough?!?!?
Alot of people are already complaining about whether the RCMP and the promoters are able to handle the noise, traffic, drinking, etc. Give the RCMP and the promoters a chance to prove themselves, things might go smoothly.
No wonder PEI has such a hard time attracting good musical acts.

I'll be very suprised if the concert happens here on PEI. Main reason why we decided not to buy a ticket right away for the fact it would likley not happen on the Island. All the empty fields on this Island and they can't find a suitable spot to hold a concert that will hold 20,000 people.

If the concert does get moved off-island we can kiss good bye any chance of having a major concert here on the Island in the future. The only places they will be allowed to hold concerts at are the Civic Center and the Festival of Lights (and if some had their way that option would be gone too). No promoter would want to try set up another concert of this magnitude here on the Island because of having to deal with bullshit like this. People ought to get their heads out of their asses and get with the times because this is ridiculous and a joke. The article says it would be embarrassing to the PEI government well, it should be people who are trying to stop this who are embarrassed and be ashamed. Because people will be laughing at us because with all the possible venues (land) on the Island we are unable to host a major concert thanks to a few who are unwilling and too pig headed to try something new.

Same old thing 10 or 20 people ruin it for 20,000 plus all of the businesses who would benefit. www.theguardian.pe.ca/index.cfm?sid=3384&sc=1Regardless even if this concert does end up happening we aren't likely to get another one as concert promoters simply won't want to deal with the hassel and will persue other options. Really disappointing because PEI could easily support a great annual outdoor concert like this, all they need is the right location.

At least the city of Charlottetown is in support of trying to keep the concert in the area as opposed to giving up completely and letting Summerside reap the benefits of it, it would be stuipd on their part for this to happen.....but we all know it has before.

According to today's radio it has all but been decided officially that the Black Eyed Peas concert will be moved to the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Personally I kind of mixed feelings about this. Living in Ch'town this will make it easier to get there but I liked the idea of an outdoor concert in Alexandra and question how they plan to fit 20,000 there after seeing the BNL concert yesterday with only 4,000. Plus I simply hate the way this has been handled.
But I guess it is better than having this moved to Halifax or Moncton.

Charlottetown's entire police force will be deployed or on call for the Black Eyed Peas concert on Sept. 3, with more than 100 officers and guards posted at the venue alone, city officials say.
Fire and ambulance service will also be on hand when an estimated 20,000 fans descend on the Charlottetown Driving Park, Charlottetown council said at a meeting to brief the public on security plans Tuesday night.
The hip hop-inspired pop band, the Black Eyed Peas, are expected to draw about 20,000 fans in Charlottetown, but some people fear the audience will get out of control. The hip hop-inspired pop band, the Black Eyed Peas, are expected to draw about 20,000 fans in Charlottetown, but some people fear the audience will get out of control.
"Nobody came around to ask anybody what they felt about this concert," said Joanne MacLeod, who lives across the street from the CDP and was one of more than 50 people who attended the meeting.
"It looks like just because the Barenaked Ladies concert went over well, that everything else was going to be well. But you've got to realize the Barenaked Ladies had an age group of 15 to 60," MacLeod said.
She predicted the hip hop-inspired pop band coming on the Labour Day weekend would draw a much younger — and rowdier — crowd.
"This concert is going to take 13 to 25. A lot more alcohol, drugs, needles — whatever can take place at any concert."
Police Deputy Chief Richard Collins said many people seem to be focusing on the worst-case scenario.
Collins also said the city and emergency response agencies followed the example of other Maritime cities that had big concerts and put a security plan together in three weeks.
"We took the plan for the Rolling Stones in Moncton and modified it. So what was 60,000 we took it and modified it for 20,000," Collins said.

The Philospher Kings. One lucky woman from the audience was picked to go up on stage for the last song of their set. Pussycat Dolls wowed the audience in Charlottetown, close to 15,000 people filled the infield. Fergie and Apl.de.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas perform in Charlottetown.

Great turnout for the concert yesterday, seemed to be very well organized as well. We got there shortly after 3, chose to stand a ways back from the stage. When the PussyCat Dolls came on we tried to get closer to the front but well it was just way too crowded. Kids really seemed to be enjoying themselves and there didnt' seem to be any or not much trouble at all.
Black Eyed Peas put on a good show....There were a couple of times that sound was lost and that sucked but it always came back and they sang all the hits, and the crowd really seemed into it.....
Also, seemed pretty well organized when people began to leave after the show.....
Hopefully this can be a yearly event, it was shown that Charlottetown can handle the show, and all the naysayers I think have been proved wrong.....
