A production company in Halifax announced Monday that Blast the Beach is the name of a concert to be held Sunday, Sept. 3, at Vista Bay Concert Park in Alexandra starting at 1 p.m. The concert will feature the Black Eyed Peas, the Pussycat Dolls and four to six other bands to be announced later.
Tickets are $49.95. With taxes and a service charge, it will be $61 for advance sales, $63 if people order by phone.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at CD Plus in Charlottetown and Summerside and The Source in Montague as well as Jungle Jim’s Restaurants across the Maritimes.
Tickets at the gate will be $10 more.
“We are not worried about ticket sales,” said Julie Marston of Impressions Incentive Group of Halifax. “If we can’t sell the Black Eyed Peas on P.E.I., along with the Pussycat Dolls . . . we’ll be fine with ticket sales.”
A news release highlighted the natural ampitheathre effect of the hill the rises up to be the main feature of Vista Bay.

A group of residents in Alexandra is planning to hold another public meeting to air concerns about an upcoming concert, expected to attract 20,000 people to see the Black Eyed Peas.
The residents believe that's too many people for their small community just east of Charlottetown.
Promoters, backed by the Prince Edward Island government, are organizing the concert for Sept. 4 at the Vista Bay campground.
"I'm concerned because the owner of the property who was going to have this concert tried to keep it very, very quiet for as long as he possibly could, and that was his way of avoiding any opposition," Diane Wood, one of the meeting organizers, told CBC News Tuesday.
"When someone tries to sneak something past you like that, you know they're not up to much good. So anyway, we don't like the way we were kind of not asked."
A meeting was already held, but residents want the concert promoter, David Carver, and Vista Bay campground owner, Glen Beaton, to answer more questions.
Residents say they're worried about traffic, noise, policing and safety.

I can't personally see the Chili Peppers playing on an undercard to the Pussycat Dolls

Leave it to the PEI yokles to want to nix a good concert. I'm sure Vista Bay can put up with traffic and noise for one night. Love of god.
