Went and saw The Rocket last night...it was fairly well done...I'm not even a Habs fan (despise them actually) but the movie was fairly good...liked watching Avery get knocked twice...Ricci, Lecavalier, Ian Laperriere, and Stephane Quintal also made appearances...
The guy who played Dick Irvin did a good job...although my friends and I were wondering why there was no mention of Dick Irvin Jr as he always used to say he sat at the end of the bench beside the Rocket when he was at the games...also in the movie, there was no mention at all of Maurice having a brother, and with Henri being the guy with the most Stanley Cups, I thougt that they might mention his name.

It was full of subtitles...some English dialogue but mostly French...subtitles don't bother me at all...after the first couple of minutes, you sort of forget that they are even there.

went with jenn and emma to watch the movie tonight. i quite enjoyed it really. i found that there was actually more english then i thought there would be. the subtitles didn't bother me at all. i have a basic knowledge of french so i could pretty much make out the movie without them. recommend people go and watch it. also think that each and every rocket team member should have to watch this. shows a player that played with heart and grit and maybe can be used during training camp. can't hurt can it?

As Ang mentioned - I also went to see the Rocket tonight - was a very good movie. I really enjoyed it. The subtitles weren't bad - you weren't "reading" a movie. But then again subtitles don't really bother me. The English/French was pretty even. At most points I was thinking there was more English then French. And I could understand a lot of the French that was being said. Gotta say - everyone should go and see this movie. It's one of those sports films that is actually really good.
And it was really interesting to see the bits of actual historical footage spliced in with the movie. It gave the movie a more authentic feel. And Roy DuPuis - he did a fantastic job as the Rocket.
Two thumbs up!

Goin against the grain here, but I actually wasn't a big fan.
Found it pretty "dumbed down", as if it was made for total non hockey fans................ the coaches and players didn't act like coaches and players actually act.............. and said things coaches and players don't actually say............
And there was way too much time spent on the whole love story between Rocket and Lucille. I hate when they take what could be a good sports movie and INSIST on tacking a love story onto it......... even the greatest hockey movie of all time, Slap Shot, is guilty of this!
And I didn't like the actor at all, found that altho he bore a slight physical resemblance to the Rocket, he didn't at all "seem" like he was said to have been........... seemed way too nice and mild-mannered and almost kind of momma's boy-ish............ and when he was acting out the parts where the Rocket went crazy and knocked people out and stuff, it just didn't seem real.
That and it was just kinda slow-moving and boring.
Anyhow wasn't an overly huge fan!
