that is so depressing..... both my teams eliminated from the playoffs in the span of a week...and yes, the reffing sucked ass, but thought it was equally bad for both teams .

Wellwood was splashing all over the place, and the refs were eating it up. What a disgrace.

The NHL just lost a ton of my respect for it. I hope Crosby breaks a lot of records, otherwise I don't care.
Go QMJHL go. Go ROCKET Go!

Suck it up like the Habs captain did........he said they were penalties and had to be called.......he's right......a little more discipline and Montreal might have won the game......the refs made the right calls and Toronto capitalized on it.......end of story.

Yes, it does suck that the Habs couldn't pull it together to make it into the playoffs............I expect to see Gainey resign to be honest.
Most of his UFA moves have been terrible.
At least with André Savard, this team was a playoff team......now they have gone from being a 2nd round loser, to a 1st round loser, to a non-playoff team.
Players like Abby, Kovy, Bonk, Sammy, Downey, Niniimaa, and even Johnson all can go......
I will say that I like some of our prospects.........Lappy, Halak, Price, Latendresse, Grabovski, Kostitsyn and players like Plekanec, Komo, and Higgins.
This team needs to make some changes this summer and I wouldn't be shocked to see them get done without Gainey.

Team has lacked a real superstar to build around since they traded Roy
Imagine having the history the Habs do and they can't get a high profile free agent to sign here
Gainey is a smart man... but he sucks as a GM.. and unfortunately I am not very high on Carbo as a coach either
I agree the young prospect pool is shaping nicely but they need to add a legitimate number one center and another top 4 dman wouldn't hurt either

Frick'n Kovalev what a Bum!! Samsonov another Frick'n Bum!! I'd like to see Gainey send these Frick'n Bums to the leafs where they belong!!! Even the leafs wouldn't want those two premadonna's... Carbonneau's biggest problem might be finding a way to motivate Alex Kovalev, who has two years remaining at $4.5 million annually. The Russian has a reputation for being one of the most talented players in the NHL and, by his own account, he's a money player at his best in big games. Kovalev's numbers dropped off this year. He had 18 goals and 47 points in 73 games and was a minus-17. By the end of the season, he was the NHL's highest paid fourth-liner. Last season, he had 23 goals and 65 points in 69 games and was minus-1. In Saturday's showdown, Kovalev made a costly turnover, failed to get a shot on net and was minus-2. Over the last five games of the season, he had one assist and was minus-6. Signing Markov will be crucial because he's the team's best defenceman and he makes whoever he plays with better. The Canadiens might be interested in some of the other free agents, although they won't bother making offers to backup goaltender David Aebischer or defenceman Janne Niinimaa. If Souray leaves, the Canadiens need help on defence and they're in deep trouble if Markov doesn't come back. The Canadiens haven't done well in attracting free agents, but there might be help from within if they can pry Alexei Yemelin and/or Pavel Valentenko away from their teams in Russia. Players like Plekanec, Higgins, Ryder, Kostitsyn, Lapierre, Komisarek and Latendresse give Carbonneau reason to be optimistic about the future, but the team needs more veteran leadership. And the coaching staff has to take a look at themselves and see what role they played in the slow starts and the lack of discipline on the ice. Carbonneau has admitted communication isn't his strong point and that might be an area to explore in his offseason regimen.
