I'm a big fan of Les Canadiens, but no way they should've gotten a PP from that rush with 44 seconds left. If that was a penalty so was the play on Kessel. "New NHL" is a joke. Glad the Canadiens won, but this just shows how the refs decide the outcome of games.

I've been to quite a few "new NHL" hockey games over the last 2 seasons, and I can tell you that the calls that are being made are jokes. Half the time no one can even figure out what's being called, cause it was such a non-call. Guys tripping over someone else's stick is being called. You hug a guy a little too long, it's called. Honestly, I've seen what would appear as a dirty look being called. It's totally taking the flow out of the game, and making it boring.

It's still better than the previous NHL. From 98-04 it was literally unwatchable. Perhaps the main reason you're finding games boring is because you're watching CALGARY play every game.

Can't even argue with you .... not a Calgary fan at all. But at least it gives me the opportunity to see other teams come to town. Although, I will forever skip the Coyotes after Tuesday night's snorefest. But then again, that Matthew Lombardi is one good looking guy

I found the "old" NHL fine. Don't fix something when it's not broken. Most of the hitting is gone because players are scared of getting interference or whatever stupid call the ref decides to make. "New" NHL is pathetic.

"New" NHL is pathetic. This depends on what exactly you mean by "old NHL". If you mean the hockey played in the late 80s and early 90s, I agree with you- it was fantastic hockey and totally captured my imagination throughout much of my childhood. If you mean anything between 98-04, you seriously need your head examined, or simply don't know what a good hockey game is. Saying that the latter brand of hockey had nothing wrong with it would be like seeing a one-legged leper with herpes and saying there was nothing wrong with him.

It also depends on how you define hitting. I find we see more cleaner hits and less interference. Dion Phaneuf isn't getting penalized for clean checks. If you consider hitting grappling a man on a breakaway to the ice....than bring on the new rules because I don't consider that clean.

I like the "new" due to the fact that if your team falls down 2-0 in the first or second then the game isn't over anymore. a couple years ago it would be finished.
I like the parady in the league as well now.
i do however miss the battle in front of the net. it is slowly returning but will never be what it used to.
