Supposedly Yannick Jean is in the last year of a 3-year contract and so far publicly he has had the support of Savard (not that we would hear anything different through the media). Depending on who you talk to, some say he has done a good job and some say he should be gone.
It has been speculated that one reason why Jean has not been fired is because he was in the midst of a 3 year contract and if he got fired, monetary-wise his contract would still have to be honored. But with his contract supposedly expiring at the end of this season and if the Rocket get off to a slow start or falters during the season, I am wondering if Savard will stick by him or let him go during the season knowing that he is on the hook money-wise for only a half season instead of 1 1/2 or 2 seasons.
As I said before public-wise Savard has stuck by Jean but privately I am wondering how many more chances Savard will give/has given him to turn the Rocket into a contender.

If its true that Yannicks contract has to be honored, then I suspect he would not let him go. As I understand it, the Rocket lost about 250000 last year so I am sure they will not want to take on any more expense. Perhaps what he might do in that scenario is decrease Jean's responsibilities and give more of the load to the new assistant.
I think the Rocket might be in real trouble this year. I have a bad feeling about Walker and Morrison's return. If we lose them, we will have trouble just competing...never mind winning.

If he has a good camp with the Leafs, he could potentially end up with the Marlies

If he has a good camp with the Leafs, he could potentially end up with the Marlies I wish Geoff all the luck, but I really can't see that happening. His skating is to much of in issue. As I mentioned, good luck to him, but I fully expect Geoff to return to this Rocket team this season and put A LOT of pucks in the net.......

Not sure if true, but i heard a RUMOR saying that Jean's contract was extended to 5 years after he moved his family to PEI so it wouldn't be a waste to move his family.

I don't recall the Rocket announcing a contract extension (not saying it didn't happen, just don't recall) and the only place that I had heard about a contract extension was on here.
