Any ideas what we will be looking for? Is Latal returning a certainty?

Getting a top two line FW is very important for this team.
Hopefully our top two lines will be look something like this:
Walker-Morrison-Latal---great top line. Feel that Latal will have a solid year, after having a year over here underneith him.
Euro-Doyle-Locke----I expect Doyle and Locke to have a big year. Especially Doyle.
Leaves a possible 3rd line combo of: MacLean/Street/Lachaine/McKinley/Cliche Lachaine is what he is.....I don't expect him to improve much more. Solid 3rd line center. I feel that McKinley/Cliche both played well last season when called upon. This year is important for Cliche. McKinley could be the surprise of this line. Played solid last season when inserted in. I expect a rookie to take a place on the 3rd line. Both MacLean/Street have a shot to take it.
4th line will involve Paynter and Main and someone that I mentioned from the 3rd line. MacLean/Street/McKinley/Cliche

You definitely need a bonafide top flight Euro...plus a trade for another scoring line winger if you are serious about contending...looks like a 75-80 point team max to me...

Then you leave a hole on defense...part of the problem is your 2 20 year olds are already 35-40% of your offense. Here is what I see the needs in order to seriously take a run at the Q title... -a frontline top pair 19/20 year old d-man...Paris/Noreau type -another 70+ point winger(19 or 20) -a solid Euro pick 55-60pts(Latal calibre minimum) -both your goalies need to step up...Mosher to play like a solid #2(20-25 starts)...Lafleur to play like Jan-Feb...not the March version. -Doyle and Southorn take the next step...Doyle as a PPGM 2nd line center...Southorn as a solid 2 way #3-4 guy Guys like Walker Morrison Latal Lessard Gervais and co you know what you have.

Even though we will find out come the fall, I am not sure if Latal, Morrison and Walker would be a good fit on the same line. The reason being is that Latal is a skilled skater, Morrison gets around nicely on the ice, but skating is not one of Walker's strengths and not sure how well that would click. Walker might be better suited on a line whose offense is not built/relied on speed.

I sort of agree with you wingman, also Latal is not an exceptional playmaker .. that line may well not gel together as well as hoped. I still see Walker-Morriosn as a great top pairing (with a scoring winger added) and maybe Doyle-Latal as a nice second pairing type (with hopefully another solid Euro added in)
I don't think removing Swit weakens our defense much at all actually.. but I'm not commenting any further on him until the season begins.. I'll hope to be impressed but am remaining skeptical.. will be even moreso if Haddad was given away for nothing at all
Not time for Southorn to step into top 4 yet.. that's next year

I feel that he's fully capable to lead the 2nd pairing.......I wouldn't be shocked if he'll be on our top pairing........ as it stands now. This season Texashorn needs to step up. Yes, he's only a 17yr old......but he took large strides last season. We have some youth on D this season, and Texashorn needs to show leadership and run with it. I think he's fully capable of doing so.

Southorn will be playing with Lessard on the top pairing, at least to begin the season.

I think you are right Score. Well as it stands right now, if we are looking strictly at age, we only have Lessard, Gervais, and Swit back there as I think Main will be used as a forward. So with Southorn, Malouin and Clow, 3 17 year olds left, plus one other, lets say Deighan or Owens, someone from that 17 year old group has to fill a top 4 spot assuming that Swit, Lessard, and Gervais are the top 3. Personally, I don't see Serge trading away any of his 3 17 year olds so I expect themto be there for the season, and honestly, I still think that Gervais and Swit will have their hands full keeping a top 4 spot. Look for Southorn and Clow to be top four as the season progresses.

If Southorn is going to be depended on to be a top pairing d at 17 then we are definitely not going to be contending for anything other than another midpack result
That is disappointing to me as a fan
Gervais was already a top 4 guy last year barney.. why would he suddenly have trouble keeping such a role a year later?
I have no doubt Jordon will be a top dman in this league for us.... no need to rush him into such a role tho.. give him significant PP time this year for sure but he should be a 4-5 guy at best this year if we're trying to actually get past round one.. and more realistically a third pairing guy if we're taking the step to actually contend for a divisional title or egads a league championship

I don't know what the problem would be having a 17 year old at #2-#4 on the depth chart. Look at Lewiston last season. They had Kevin Marshall in that part of the depth chart and they didn't have any trouble contending. It could be argued that Southorn was our best defenceman for stretches last season, including Game 1 of the playoffs. Southorn has as much talent as Marshall in my opinion and I think he'll be very able playing those kinds of minutes.
