How did Dave Bouchard get a team a first round pick?
I find it hard to believe Haddad would have no value at all.. I agree with wingman he should have been packaged with a pick to get an impact 20

During last year's playoffs it looked like Sigouin could play that role as he was moving the puck very well. If I was Bathurst I would give him a chance to see if he could do it and if not, then make a deal at Xmas. Carl Chamberland is a similar player to Nicholas Leduc...stay at home type.... I don't expect him to be retained by the Titan at 20 but he will be a solid #4 D in Bathurst and experienced also. To get a D like him plus a 3rd round pick for a swithch from 7th to 14th in a shallow draft is pretty good. So far the Titan have done it again, improving at the June trade period...... First of all I hope for your sake that Chamberland is better than Leduc was. Leduc was slow, took too many penalties and was a 3rd pairing 20 yr old. Had he been adequate the Rocket would have kept him but instead decided they needed to upgrade with Milot. Having said that are you sure that Bathurst really upgraded your defense. Basically what you did was remove Pomerleau for nothing and add Chamberland. To be honest I am not overly familar with Chamberland but Pomerleau in his rookie season had 35 pts and seem to play a lot better in the 2nd half so personally I am interested to see how both perform during the season before deciding if it was actually a good move. Secondly as for that 7th pick we will have to wait and see who is selected before deciding the value. I mean right now there are a couple of NCAA guys (Anthony/Brown/Leblanc) but if they end up getting drafted in the Top 5 it means the player available at 7 will be pretty good. In the last 2 drafts that could mean Brannon/Marshall vs G.Carle/MacAskill or Caron/Barberio vs Boutin/Sauve. Personally I don't necessarily see this as automatic a great trade as you do. We will have to see.

How did Dave Bouchard get a team a first round pick? Rimouski and Drummondville have a very good trading relationship and made something like 5 separate deals last season. But I wonder if this year's deal is somewhat connected to one last season which now doesn't look very even. To Rimouski 1st Round (10th) in 2006 5th Rounder in 2007 To Drum: 1st Round (2nd) in 2007 4th Round in 2006 I am sure at the time Rimouski wasn't expecting it to be the 2nd overall pick probably estimating more like 5 or 6 (SNB, Chi, Sha, SJN, Mon). So maybe in good faith of that strong trading relationship they decided to this deal. To Drum: Bouchard 20th overall pick To Rimouski 12th overall pick In theory since Drummondville gets a much higher pick than originally expected maybe it was an indirect thank you by allowing Rimouski to pick 8 spots higher. I find it hard to believe Haddad would have no value at all.. I agree with wingman he should have been packaged with a pick to get an impact 20 As for Haddad I didn't say he had no value I said limited value. Team's trading an impact 20 would likely prefer a higher draft pick than an unproven 19 yr old. Probably limited chance he would be moving to a Quebec community so that leaves SJN, CB and Mon as the only real possible options. Do you think we would have gotten anything better than a 5th-7th round pick for him. I don't.

Yes I do
He was afterall on NHL scoting radars at the halfway mark last year
But the point is why not package some of your assets together to move and address needs rather than just send them off at the first available option?
or maybe strike a deal with someone we have a good trading relationship with and cash in a favor.. say like Rouyn Noranda? Just saying.
