Our trade for Swit looks that much worse when you see Chicoutimi get Wilson for a 10th rounder.

No the Wilson trade is to complete a previous trade between these teams.
Last season the trade was: To Dru: Bernier To Chi: 4th in 2008 and 10th in 2007
Now the full trade becomes
To Dru:Bernier in 2006 To Chi: 4th in 2008 and Wilson in 2007
Personally I hate how many of these trades are being made are parts of previously made ones.
Eg. Brannon, Wilson, Pomerleau, Svoboda, Mailloux, etc

Looks like Bathurst is going for it this year? Any thoughts?

Looks like Bathurst is going for it this year? Any thoughts? They are just filling holes with 19 year olds that are not impact players. Svoboda should be a good player for them if he reports. The others are depth guys...Legault, unless he has dramatically improved is not a #1 on a contender.

Well, it could be argued that they don't need all that much as they have some good scoring power already. The addition of Svoboda gives them that extra punch IMO, and if they fill those holes with solid role players......it could be a strong year. Maybe??

The trade for Swit, the Rocket could have/should have gotten him for a draft choice. Even if the Rocket were wanting to trade Haddad they could have packaged him with another roster player to get a second line or even top line player instead of getting a player who is likely to be a 3rd pairing defenseman.

Their defence and goaltending still need to be addressed. Legault and Tardif is just a decent one-two punch, not good enough to contend. Their defence is solid but unspecatcular. They could use a PP QB.

If I was Bathurst I would give him a chance to see if he could do it and if not, then make a deal at Xmas.

Is anyone surprised to see that Boutin was not traded today or are we expecting it to be done at the table tomorrow?

There is still lots of time for him to be traded before the season starts, there is another trading period in august too.

Basically all of the trades so far except for possibly Chamberland & Lamontage finalized well before arriving in Drumondville.
Savard needs to shop Boutin around hard and is the type of player that should move for a late 3rd - 5th round draft pick or a depth forward with a combination of draft picks. That type of deal (if it happends) likely won't take place until tomorrow while the draft is occuring.
As for the Swit/Haddad trade. Haddad didn't have great trading value and I would much rather move him than trade an early 4th/5th round pick for Swit since that is the 20 that Savard added.

I don't expect him to be retained by the Titan at 20 but he will be a solid #4 D in Bathurst and experienced also. To get a D like him plus a 3rd round pick for a swithch from 7th to 14th in a shallow draft is pretty good. So far the Titan have done it again, improving at the June trade period......
