Good post Score and I was kind of thinking of the same thing.
Personally I'm not a Suchy fan if the Rocket added him for say a 4th in 2008. He could then replace Swit and free up a 20 yr old spot.
Then there are two 20 yr old forwards that I would like to add.
Giliati (Lew) - 68 gms / 24 goals / 57 pts - Maybe we could be creative and package our Euro and a 5th otherwise it would likely our 2nd Rounder.
Cacciotti (Dru) - 54 gms / 27 goals / 49 pts - also lkely to cost a 2nd Rounder
Swit would then hopefully be moved for a 5th in 2008.
That would leave us with a lineup something like this:
Walker-Morrison-Latal Locke-Doyle-Gilati/Cacciotti Cliche-Lachaine-MacLean/McKinley Main-Courcelles-MacLean/McKinley Street
Lessard-Suchy Gervais-Southorn Clow-Malouin-Owens
That is the kind of team that could compete with Lew/Hal/Bat for the Division title without really sacrificing the future.
Unfortunately it is unlikely to happen.
By the same token, IF and I mean a BIG IF the Rocket get an 18 yr old drafted Euro like Latal who puts up around 20 goals and 50 pts would that not be enough?
Right now it is the question of finding another quality Euro that has me concerned but IF our new Euro works out I think the team we have could compete for the division title without using any future assets.

hockeyfan......nice post. I wish Lewi would give up Gilati, but they have 17 guys elegible to return. I am guessing they will probably try to make another run

One thing to consider if Swit is to be moved, is that the Rocket will have to find a team that will take him. Once the season starts and teams start to acquiring players for the playoffs, there may not be many teams willing to take on a 20 yr old who might only be a third pairing defenseman.

also if you make that move you basically gave away Haddad for nothing.. waste of an asset

From what I found, here are the 20yr old Dman around. Marc-Andre Dorion D JP Paquet(Pit)D Mathew Menard D Mathieu Labrie D Beau Prokopetz D Oskars Bartulis(Phi)(Euro) D Luc Bourdon(Van) D Bryan Wilson D Sebastien Bernier D Loikets D Dufresne D Marc-Andre Crete D Michal Korenko (Euro) D Chad Denny (Atl) D Nick Emanuele D Andrew Andricopoulos D Pierre Bergeron D Philippe Poirier D Joey Ryan (LA) D Francois Bolduc D Guillaume Lepine D Mathieu Carle(Mtl) D Louis-Etienne LeBlanc D Samuel Richard D Cedrick Archambault D Kris Letang (Pit) D Maxime Noreau D Not 100% on that list, but I think it's fairly accurate. Some players on the list will not be in the league next season (pro) , and others will be back but likely are unavailable. Not a whole lot, and unlike last year there really aren't many options for quality 20 yr old dmen this season. Quebec Remparts 20-year old defenceman Andrew Andricopoulos has signed a contract with the ECHL Texas Wildcatters. Andricopulous is solid in his own zone and can be an offensive threat. This was a good signing for the undrafted blueliner.

That probably explains why he wasn't traded at the draft. It is very likely some teams inquired and were told that he was persuing a pro contract.
