Michal Repik's go-ahead goal at 15:05 of the third period lifted the Vancouver Giants to a 3-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers and a Memorial Cup title on Sunday.
The 18-year-old forward from the Czech Republic scored a wrap-around goal on Tigers goaltender Matt Keetley.
"We did it in front of 16,000 people," said Repik. "To score the winning goal is great."
Spencer Machacek added an empty-net goal and Mario Bliznak also scored the Giants. Goaltender goaltender Tyson Sexsmith stopped 14 of 15 shots for the win.
"We felt in the dressing room we had a good enough team to beat them and we could feed off all the fans in our building and I think we really did that tonight," said Giants' captain Brett Festerling.
Darren Helm replied for the Tigers. Keetley held the Western Hockey League champions in the game as long as he could by making 38 saves on 40 shots.
Giants forward Milan Lucic was named the most valuable player of the tournament. The Boston Bruins draft pick had two goals and five assists in five games.
It was a standing-room only crowd of 16,281 at Pacific Coliseum, which raised the Memorial Cup attendance record to 121,561 and surpassed the previous mark by 37,775.
